Dinner at Friends Cafe

Had a nice dinner and chat with a lovely friend at Friends Cafe just the other night. We both took the set dinner which was about RM30. Set dinner come with soup of the day, bread & butter, a drink and the main dish. Ah..i wonder did we have salad too? Hmm.. the dinner was some time ago and i can't remember!! how forgetful am I ?! Anyway, you can exchange the drinks with some other drinks if you don't like what they offer, but with additional charge, of course.

I had fish & chips and my friend had lamb chop. Dinner was ok, not too great but the restaurant atmosphere was awesome. Not too many customers for the night as it was not during the weekend. So, quite quiet for a nice long chat with my old buddy here. lol.. see the photos below, so empty.

The waitress was somehow a bit impolite. She was standing beside me waiting for me to drink the last spoon of soup. When I put down the spoon, she took my bowl right away. Shouldn't she ask the customer for permission to remove the empty dish? Well..i guess it's because the place is quite empty for the night, and she got nothing much to do. But still, it's slightly too efficient. Hahaha.. Overall, the place is nice and cozy enough for couple to hang out or a nice dinner with your good mate. For family gathering, I think it's not too suitable for children though..

How to wear a long skirt

While searching for styles to wear with my long white skirt that I bought last year specially for the choir, I came across some fashion that I like. May not be suitable for my height, but really look nice. If you are tall enough, this style suits you well. :D I forgot where I found these but have kept them in a folder as fashion reference.

Things I lack to brighten up my outfit are accessories. I don't really buy them, like belts, ear-rings, necklaces...etc Only if I really need them to match with a particular outfit. So after looking at these outfits, I bought 3 belts in just a day! Yellow, green and light brown. :D The light brown belt has been very useful because it matches most colors.

Tapioca kuih

Just to show you the kuih my mom baked with the tapioca I blogged about the other day. Slightly too soft, a bit oily to my liking but the taste is just right. If it harden a bit more, would be perfect. Well, i'm blessed to have the chance to taste mom's cooking and baking almost everyday. So, no complaint.. Hehehe.. Don't be jealous ya, my sisters! Lol!!

Tapioca

Mom's going to bake tapioca kuih!! Yeh!! :) not with the ready made tapioca flour, but with the real tapioca! Hoo-Hoo! First look at it, I thought it's a tree branch! haha!

Food in NZ

I'm just too lazy to write about my NZ trip in Dec 2011. Uploading the photos in FB took me ages. So..i'll just share the food we had there. :P If I have the mood to write about the trip, I will definitely do it. oh yeah.. my writing mood swings a lot.

Here are some of the great food that we had during our first few days in Auckland, NZ. Cousins brought us to a cafe in Devonport (can't remember the name of the cafe but it's located in Victoria St) and we had a fantastic lunch at Wine Chambers, Auckland. I had Cordon Bleu which was so nicely wrapped. And that was the first time I saw my cousin eating rabbits risotto. Eeewww..can't rabbit, can we? They are so cute..but in NZ, it's common to eat them.

And we had home-cooked food! My cousin is a really great cook. :D She served us with delicious and healthy lunch & dinner. Oh and breakfast too. She cooked everything all by herself. I don't know much about cooking so i can just help with the dishes or cutting up the vege. ;p By the way, the fish in this photo below was caught by ourselves! We went for a fishing trip in Whangamata, christmas present from our lovely cousins. :D

Not to forget the desserts we had for Christmas! She made 5 desserts! Can you imagine how full we were after the main dish? And we still have space for 5 desserts! hahaha... we had the desserts for a few days. And I love her home-made ice-cream! Not sure when I can taste her cooking again.

new phone

Must jot this down! :D After 5-6 yrs with my Sony Ericsson walkman phone, I've finally decided to switch to a smartphone. I've been reminding myself that i don't need a smartphone and my handphone is still very usable. I don't call much and I have internet most of the time. Why do I need a high technology phone?

But my heart keep pushing me to go for one. It's peer pressure. Everyone got one, why shouldn't I? Mom keep telling me I'll looked old-fashioned and out-dated with my friends who carry smartphones and update status all the time. Sigh..even mom's phone is better than mine. But i need to save money! With the house loan taking effect this year, my monthly saving is dropping so much!

Never the less, i went to Kinta City and had a look at Samsung smartphones. The price is high without a data plan. (I was thinking to get Samsung Galaxy S2) So, I walked into the DIGI store (with mom) and spoke to the promoter. Looking at the phone package and data plan..i started calculating my monthly expenses. The promoter suggested to take the iPhone data plan. Mom and I decided to take a break at Secret Recipe and rethink about the purchase. Should I or should I not get it now? We had 2 pieces of cake and went back to the DIGI store.

And guess what?! I took the iPhone plan! RM2090 for the phone and monthly data plan plus phone calls/SMS will be RM55 with autobilling service. Sounds like a good plan but guess i've to fork out more money this month and try to save more next month..

It was an instant decision. My colleagues were shocked to see me carry an iPhone to work. They said i took a big jump from an old, old phone to the newest model of iPhone. :D But i'm loving my new phone. Though a bit new to the technology, i'll try to learn fast and upload more photos and postings. ;P
