Problem opening Apps on Iphone 4S

Last Sunday I downloaded Ringtone+++ and of course, I downloaded some ringtones using this app.  Following the instruction given, I transferred the ringtones I downloaded to my desktop and then, copied these ringtones to my iTunes library and thereafter, to my iPhone. Well, so far so good. Everything works as it says. I was a satisfied user. :)

But then, a few hours later, none of the apps I downloaded can be opened! Not even one! I panicked. What's wrong with my phone?! It's just a month old, I can't be that unlucky one?

I was playing a game I downloaded half an hour ago and was just texting using Whatsapp a few minutes ago, all of a sudden..everything was not working except those programmed apps. I was having doubts with the ringtones that I've downloaded to my phone. Was that the culprit?

It happened when I was having dinner with my dad at Boston, De Garden. So, after dinner, we went straight to Kinta City, DIGI centre, where I've purchased the phone. Nobody can help...all the staffs there just tried to restart my phone a few times. One of them said the only way is to restore to factory setting. But I need to backup my phone with iTunes at home using my own PC. I was devastated. Is there nothing can be done other than restore to factory setting? He said all my apps will be gone. :(

Went home and backup my phone with iTunes. Did a search on google but maybe not thorough enough because I couldn't find anything helpful. In the end, I decided to press "Restore". While iTunes was downloading iOS 5, i found something on the web. Turn out some people do have this experience and someone suggested to download a new app to solve the problem. I find it a weird way... But I gave it a try and it really works! Luckily iTunes was still downloading the iOS 5 software and had not start resetting anything. I quickly unplug the USB cable. Whether it will continue with the restoration process when I plug in the cable next time, I'm not too sure.

Everything seems ok these 2 days. New ringtone is working fine. Probably it's a problem with the sync process. I just hope that nothing will go wrong again. Fingers crossed!

Rude Customer Service

Have you ever dealt with a rude supplier? Today was my first encounter after working for 7 years. I've written an email using the email address of the supplier's website to request some sample for evaluation. However, after waiting for a week, there was no feedback. So, I called their Malaysian representative office. The phone rang for quite a few minutes before someone answered. I asked to speak to the sales personnel, but the receptionist told me the person in charge is on medical leave. So, I asked whether there is someone else who can stand in for him/her to answer my enquiry. I told her I'd like to make a sample request. She transferred me to a few staffs before the last one actually said yes, ok...you can write an email to me regarding the sample request. He told me his name (i'll call him "A") and email address. I was happy and satisfied at that moment.

However, I receive no response after 3 days. Well, as usual, I'll do a follow-up and call to check the progress. When I called and asked to speak to "A", the receptionist sounded as if there's no such person. She asked me from which department is the person I wanted to talk to. I was confused. In my heart, I was hoping that I had heard A's name correctly and I was thinking how can she doesn't know which department? I even asked A to spell his name for me. Anyhow, the receptionist transferred me to someone, and that someone then transferred to another person, and then, I got transferred to another person again. And finally, someone on the line told me his name was "B" which sounded similar to "A". I was hesitant but never the less, I told him my predicament. I wished to have some sample but still have not receive any feedback from him. All of a sudden, he was pissed off!! Asking me where I got his name, where I got his email.. who gave me his name.. and told me he doesn't know about any sample request, he hasn't even heard of our company name, bla, bla, bla...

I told him I'd like to request this and this product. And he was even more pissed off. He said that was not his responsibility. His production line is not producing that product. It should be the responsibility of another department. He sounded really mad.. Gosh.. it was getting to my nerves. I couldn't hold it and I sounded angry too. I told him the problem between your internal departments is not my problem. My only concern is i'd like to request some samples. And his colleague may have transferred the line to the wrong person. But he's not helpful and scolded me for calling the wrong department. I was too mad to talk to him at that moment and I told him I'd complain to his headquarters. And he was like..ok lah! and we hung up.

Wow... he needs to go for communication training man... this is not the right way to treat your potential customer. To cut story short, I got hold of the sales team email address later on and I wrote a complaint email, telling them about the above incident. (but not as detailed la...) They wrote me an apology and promised to look into my enquiry. Well, apology accepted and I hope we will have a more pleasant business relationship in future. Fingers crossed!

Dentist in Ipoh (3)

A follow-up to my previous 2 posts on "Dentist in Ipoh"... and "Dentist in Ipoh (2)"
There's a blogger I stumbled upon who recommends Dr Chong in Gunung Rapat. It's located at the below address :-
No. 685, 1st Floor, Jln Gunong Rapat,
Kampung Baru Gunong Rapat,
31350 Ipoh,
Perak.

Tel: 05-3133616.

Well, I'm going to scout the dental clinic tomorrow to know the exact location. Mom may want to try doing scaling at this clinic. Although I'm still doing orthodontics treatment at Kuan Dental Surgery, I do feel that their service is slightly 'cincai'. My first post about reliable dentist in Ipoh may need to be revised since I don't think Kuan Dental Surgery is reliable any more.

My supposed to be 1 year treatment is taking longer than I anticipated. I started the treatment from Nov 2010 and I'm still wearing the braces! My doctor told me my treatment is about 1 year plus minus. But now it's almost 1 and a half year! My cousin is getting married this coming June and I was hoping the braces would have been taken off. It will be a big celebration because almost all family and relatives will be back. It's like a family reunion, bigger than Chinese New year reunion dinner. I was hoping I can take more photos with my big smile.

Now I guess, it will take another couple of months... i still see gaps in my teeth and the front row is not straighten yet. Even the bottom row has two slightly slanted teeth. Aiyo... paid so much to get such outcome?! Well, i'm crossing my fingers. We will see when the braces is finally removed! Oh, forgot to mention that the brackets, 3 of them, detached when I was either brushing my teeth or eating or at one time, without me knowing it. Well, not 3 of the brackets detached all at once. Each detached at different time. There was no such incident when I was having orthodontic treatment for 3 years at a gov dental clinic in Penang during my uni years.

Raymond Looi's Concert

Attended a christian music concert organized by Elim Professional Youth Fellowship yesterday night. The singer was Singpetra Mission's Raymoon Looi. The first time I heard his music was in 2005, when I was attending a church camp in Pulau Jerejak. He has a strong and determined voice, to sing praises to God and  he shows his passion in glorifying God through his gifts in music, songs and testimonials. More information about him at Singpetra's website and Raymond Looi's Facebook page.

Some snapshots of him on stage performing.

His messages often relate us to our daily life, relationship building and positive thinking which encourage us to face life challenges with faith and love of God. The songs he sings usually combine gospel songs and some meaningful pop songs. Yesterday night, he sang 我的路a few hymns from his latest album, and some songs from Anita Mui, Sam Hui and Lisa Wang's 用爱将心偷.

Will look forward to his next performance in ipoh. ;)

Jelly Ice (Wan Tao Long)

Ipoh folks, do you remember the famous jelly ice or more commonly known as 'wan tao long' selling in a coffee shop opposite pasir puteh market? The stall was always seen busy on a sunday afternoon. It was closed for quite a while and it has reopened now. The shop is located at Jalan Theater, opposite "Pak Kong Chicken Rice" shop and Rasa Sayang Chicken Rice shop.

I ordered the jelly ice with lime juice and 'sek lau ji', and had Wan Ton Noodle at the shop next door, which is Akoko Noodle House. Mom had pork ribs noodle. The taste of the noodle was ok, i would say. Not very impressive, but scored fairly. But the jelly ice..emm....on a hot day, it just melt in your mouth! Miss having this cold dessert on a hot sunday afternoon! The cost per bowl varies depending on what you required such as coconut drink or cendol or sour plum added.

DIY Hair Coloring

Mom asked me to help her color her hair last week and so I did. It wasn't difficult. Just need to make sure that all the grey hair are covered with the dye. Tools that I need
  • a plastic container to mix the dye
  • a brush for applying the dye to the hair
  • a rat tail comb to section the hair
  • a pair of gloves to protect my hands

As for myself, I usually do it at the salon. My hair is too long to handle and i'm just plain lazy to do it myself. Better ask a professional to do it and get a free hair treatment too. ;p

So here how I looked like coloring my mom's hair. ;) Look like a pro, man! lol!

Happy Easter!

I was late to church this morning. Arrived at church 10minutes late and found the parking full of cars. Why is there no parking for me? We drove around for 2-3 circles around the church area and finally found a spot opposite the big road. Went into the hall to find that it was packed. Thankful that there were still seats for us. We squeezed into the bench and realized the service already started with the easter baptism.

Yes! I nearly forget! Today is easter sunday and we are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. 20 brothers and sisters were baptised today. This was the first time I witnessed baptism in this church. The stage was so beautiful..sunlight shining through behind the baptism pool. Just that the view was slightly blocked by the drum set. Hmm.. the stage is just too small for all the music instruments, sound system, etc.

After baptism, there were sketch performed by kids, dance by the youth and choir too. Didn't take any photos of that because was too busy looking at the performances. :P

Praise and worship started with this song which reminds us Jesus is alive! ;)

Hallelujah Jesus is alive
Death has lost its victory
And the grave has been denied
Jesus lives forever
He's alive, He's alive

He's the alpha and omega
the first and last is he
the couse of sin is broken
and we are perfect liberty
lamb of god has risen
he's alive, He's alive

Hallelujah, jesus is alive

AEON Station 18

Yes!! Finally!! After all these years waiting, Ipoh finally has a 'big' shopping mall which offer some of KL famous eateries, boutiques and branded outlets. We finally get to taste Kim Gary's, Sakae Sushi, Wendy's, 汤师父 and Nandos in our little city. We now have Cotton On, Daiso, Summit and a lot more that KL and Penang have already long enjoyed. My sister said that the new Aeon Station 18 is somewhat similar to One Utama but a lot more smaller of course.

It was opened on 29.3.12. To avoid the big crowd, we just went there last Thursday. Confused of the parking because some roads were blocked. Arrows to indicate flow direction on the road are too small and difficult to read causing cars to drive at the wrong direction.

When we were at Ipoh Parade last night, the place was so, so empty. Apparently, everybody went to the new shopping mall.. hahah..

Some shots of the interior decorations.

Restaurant street filled with cafes, restaurants of different cuisines.

Picture taken from Asian Blend Cafe. Good place for children to hang out. Saw a beautiful rainbow when we were dining in the restaurant.

Sis was buying Mr Donut for us to try. It's my first time eating donuts from Mr. Donut. The donut texture is slightly chewy, very different from normal donuts.

Draw Something

When I first got my iPhone, a friend asked me to download Draw Something. I said what's that? A game? I tried to convince myself that I won't get any app for games in my phone. I get addicted to games fairly easy. I told my friend.."I won't download for now la! But see how long I can 'tahan' la! But my curiosity grow out of me and I had a search in google to understand more about this app that everybody is talking about. It's the most downloaded and popular app in just weeks that it was launched. The app didn't wait long for my itchy hand to go press 'install' at the App Store. Sigh..after a week of trying to resist the temptation.. i failed badly.

The first few drawings were really bad.. I was not used to drawing with my finger and on a small surface. With just black, yellow, red and white color, it seems difficult to express your drawing. I played with about 15 friends and a random player. After just 2 weeks plus, I've purchased 5 sets of colours with the coins I collected!!! Some can draw and the drawing were easily guessed.. some couldn't draw and wrote some hints which is fairly easy to guess too. But I reckon this is a drawing game. If you are not drawing, it doesn't serve the purpose right?

Some drawings I drew..

One thing I like about this is I've started to interact with some friends that I hardly talk to. :) We have something in common to discuss now. And we learn about each other through the drawings. And we can improve our drawing skill and imagination too! Trying to draw something which make sense for the other player, it's sometime not easy. There are also quite a lot of words that we don't know.. so, another good point for this app is that you learn new words from time to time. Though sometime you can get bored too when you get too many repeat words.

This is from a another player..

So, do you want to have a try? ;)

Dim Sum at the famous Foh San

Had dim sum for breakfast this morning. ;)

Only get to eat dim sum when my sister is here for holiday. I personally don't go there a lot cuz the restaurant is always crowded and it's quite difficult to find a parking spot around this area.
